This is my second to last installment of this blog. I am done with it in one week. But for this week I will share the little bit that I still find interesting about my life. I went to New York last week. For probably the final time. It made me realize a few things. First. I don’t like New York. I don’t like the bus ride down there I don’t like riding the subway constantly to get anywhere, I particularly can’t stand being without my car. I’ve decided that I will not be moving to New York. It wasn’t my plan before but this just put the nail in the coffin in case my mind ever started flirting with the idea.
Perhaps then you ask, “What are you going to do? If you’re not going to move to New York? What’s the point of doing comedy at all?”
Well, my plan now is to try and help build the strongest comedy scene possible here in Boston. I know there’s already others out there helping with this and I applaud them. I will continue to do my part to create shows that will allow comics to develop in Boston as well as create opportunities for those comedians to get paid spots once they have developed a solid act. A lot of that will most likely be centered around Stadium in Quincy. The Tuesday show is already a solid show that gets a great supportive crowd each week, allowing comedy fans to come see a fantastic free show in the middle of the week and allowing young comics to hone their craft. On top of that I’ll be working to make Saturday night at Stadium in Quincy a known hot spot for comedy. I know this will take a little bit of time and a lot of effort but I’ve already had a fair amount of people offering to volunteer their time to help get the word out.
So anyway, New York is out, Boston is in, for good.
