The Random Word Generator Diaries: Pitch

*Every week (for the most part) Rick uses a random word generator to pick a topic, and rambles on about it using related stories, thoughts, and questionable facts he thought he heard somewhere.  Once finished he’ll look up the actual definition and see if he was in the ballpark.

random word: Pitch

What an appropriate word considering last week’s Boston Comedy Softball mess.  If you do not know, Mottley’s team basically won the championship, but their final run did not count on some technicality.  The game went into an extra inning and the Comedy Studio outdid them winning yet another accolade.  I was on neither team, nor was I in the league because I am terrible at sports.  I do however have some stuff I may as well share.

I did get a “Softy” award at the BoCom Softball Awards BBQ for “best freeloader.”  Despite not being in the league I showed up for some food and drink, and mainly I just wanted to swim in Mike Clark’s pool.  I also have 2 Comedy Studio team jerseys and 3 BoCom Tees.  Pretty impressive for someone not involved in the slightest.

I played one pick up game a few years ago after the insistence of the league’s commissioner, Tom Dustin.  After one inning in the field (during which I was made fun of the whole time, and rightly so) I was traded to the other team.

TD: Today’s the best day of my life, ask me why…

RC: Why?

TD: You’re traded!  Now ask me who I traded you for…

RC: Who?

TD: No one!  Two people left, so I begged them to take you so i could get rid of you.

Again, this was only a PICK UP GAME!

I am well loved amongst my contemporaries.

So pitch means something baseball-y, and also the degrees of an angle I think…   something about music too…

I’m pretty sure I am not wrong about the angle thing…
